About Train Mountain Railroad Museum
Train Mountain Railroad Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of our railroad heritage. It is located in Southern Oregon on over 2000 acres of Ponderosa Pine forest in Klamath County, the home of Crater Lake National Park. Train Mountain currently has 69,900 feet (13¼ miles) of 7½″ gauge mainline track and 133,250 feet (25¼ miles) of total trackage, which includes yards, sidings, and connector tracks. In the 2004 Guinness World Records™ Train Mountain is recognized as the "Longest Miniature Hobby Railroad".
Train Rides are available every Sunday during the summer, between Memorial Day and Labor Day and on Memorial Day and Labor Day, from 10:00 A.M. to
3:00 P.M. on the Klamath & Western Railroad. The entrance is just east of the Train Mountain entrance on South Chiloquin Road. These rides are provided by members of the Klamath & Western Railroad, a non-profit organization. While there is no admission fee, donations are welcome to defray the costs of insurance and fuel. Train Meets for members and those who own, operate, or have an interest in 7½″ gauge railroading are held
seven times a year: Martin Luther King weekend in January, the
last weekend in April, the weekend after Memorial Day in June, the first weekends in both July and August, the weekend after Labor Day in September, and Columbus Day weekend in October. Click on Meet Schedule to obtain the Meet Registration Form.
Work Weeks are held the week before each train meet in June, July, August and September. Those attending work weeks have an opportunity to help maintain the rolling stock, track, right of way, and miniature buildings as well as enjoy the very special fellowship that makes Train Mountain unique in the 7½″ gauge railroad hobby.
Triennial Meets: Every three years Train Mountain hosts the Train Mountain Triennial International Train Meet. The first Triennial Meet was held in August of 2000, and featured a mile of trains for the Saturday morning Cavalcade of Trains. The last Triennial was held June 26 - July 2 , 2006. The next Triennial is scheduled to be held in 2009 with a five day "Work Week" immediately proceeding the meet.
Membership is $100.00 per calendar year and includes all family members residing at the same address, reduced registration fees for regular Train Meets, a permanent name badge, annual membership roster, and the Train Mountain Gazette in either paper or electronic form. Membership now also includes an invitation to join the Train Mountain e-mail discussion list available to members.
Company Store: The Train Mountain Company Store carries everything needed to build and operate a 7¼″ or 7½″ gauge railroad.
